Harlingen,TX- Avis Cleo Thomas Patterson, 90, passed away on Tuesday, January 24, 2012 at her residence surrounded by family. She was born July 1, 1921 in Lincoln, Arkansas to the late Robert Toliver and Jennie Hughes Thomas. Cleo as she was known was a hard working and good Christian who loved her family dearly and will be missed greatly. She is preceded in death by her parents and husband of 53 years, Willis Boyd Patterson; daughter, Sharon Annette Patterson; brothers, Clinton Thomas, Denton Thomas and Jimmy Thomas and one sister, Vina Lou Oats. Left to cherish her memory are her children: Boyd (Pat) Patterson of Sequin,TX; Karen (Dub) Shepperd of Quinlan, TX; Elaine (Chuck) Corliss of Harlingen,TX, Jimmy (Joyce) Patterson of Eastland,TX, Larry (Dawn) Patterson of Clarksville,TX, Brother; Lyle Thomas of Prairie View, AR., Sister; Lyla Nickerson of Leesburg,FL, Juanita Newton of Lancaster,TX, and Vola Rickert of Harlingen,TX. She is also survived by by 21 grandchildren, 52 great grandchildren and 26 great great grandchildren. Visitation will be held on Thursday, January 26, 2012 from 5:00 PM to 7:00 PM at Thomae Garza Funeral Directors. Chapel services will be held on Friday, January 27, 2012 at 10:00 AM at the Thomae Garza Funeral Directors, 395 S. Sam Houston, with internment to follow at Mont Meta Memorial Park in San Benito. Pallbearers will be her grandsons: Mike Patterson, Bobby Patterson, Art Patterson, Darren Patterson, Robin Patterson and Flash Corliss with her remaining grandsons and great grandsons serving as honorary pallbearers.
