Obituary of Maria Isabel Chavez

Maria Isabel Chavez, 70, of San Benito, Texas passed away on Tuesday, September 18, 2018 in San Benito, Texas.

She was a devoted wife and mother. Worked as a para-professional for 5 years with the San Benito School District and 20 years with the Harlingen School District. Her beautiful smile and friendly attitude will be missed.  Many of the (ESL) students that were in her class looked up to her as their adopted mother and would always come to her for advice and guidance.

She was preceded in death by her parents; Raul Luna and Antonia Rosales Luna.

Maria leaves her husband of 44 years Leonardo Chavez Jr., son; Daniel Chavez, daughter; Maricela ( Brian) Grahl, 3 stepchildren; Leonardo (Cheryl) Chavez III, Vincent (Robin ) Chavez and Vanessa Chavez as well as 4 grandchildren, 2 brothers; Raul Luna and Jose Luna as well as 3 sisters; Maggie, Janie and Zoila.

Visitation will be held on Thursday, September 20, 2018 from 5:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m., with a rosary service at 7:00 p.m., at Thomae Garza Memorial Funeral Home in San Benito, Texas in accordance to her wishes cremation will follow.
