Obituary of Ofelia Martinez

Ofelia Martinez, 79, of San Benito, Texas passed away on Monday, September 3, 2018, at Retama Manor in Harlingen, Texas.

Ofelia was a devout Catholic and would praise God in all she went through. She held a special place in her heart for La Virgin de Guadalupe. Her hope was in God. She was known for her green thumb and will be dearly missed by her family and friends.

Ofelia is preceded in death by her husband, Jose Antonio Martinez; parents, Santos and Hortencia Herrera; and 2 brothers, Santos and Homero Herrera.

She is survived by her siblings, Jose Olivo (Maria) Herrera, Olivia (Francisco) Soto, Josefina (Ernesto) Moreno, Olga (Jose Luis) Hernandez, Oralia Herrera, Oliverio (Juana) Herrera, Odilia (Raul) Partida, Otilia Trevino, Jose Ofidio (Erminia) Herrera, Hortencia Soria, Maria del Rosario (Jose Luis) Salazar, and Evangelina (Ramon) Sandoval; and other relatives.

Visitation will be held on Wednesday, September 5, 2018, from 4:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. and will continue Thursday, September 6, 2018, from 9:00 a.m. to 9:00 p.m. with a rosary at 7:00 p.m. at Thomae-Garza Funeral Home in San Benito, Texas.

Funeral mass will be at 2:00 p.m. on Friday, September 7, 2018, at St. Theresa Catholic Church. Interment will follow to Mont Meta Memorial Park in San Benito, Texas.
