San Antonio/Rancho Viejo, Texas- Craig Germeyer, 33, our son, brother, friend & Navy Veteran has gone to Heaven. Craig was born in Houston, Texas on July 24th, 1978. He attended St. Joseph Academy and Pace High School in Brownsville, Texas. Craig loved traveling to Mexico with his grandmother, Magdalena Garcia de Rosas; he loved the beach, and had the opportunity to travel extensively since childhood living in Indonesia as a boy. He shared his affinity for the sea with his children. Craig, medically retired, served for eight years on the USS Arleigh-Burke. Assignments included Operation Southern Watch, Operation Iraqi Freedom, and the Global War on Terrorism. He served as a first responder to the threat to freedom after the attack of 9/11. He temporarily retired as an operation specialist (OS) E-5 after eight years of service to the Navy. His last assignment was at Naval Station Newport in Rhode Island where he served as part of the Military Funeral Detail. He was attending UT in San Antonio and passed away unexpectedly on Wednesday, December 7, 2011. Craig was a loving father and son. He will forever be in our hearts and prayers. He is survived by Joelle Gonzales of Devine Texas; his son Alexander and daughter Charisma; his mother, Armantina Rosas Tourigny; his father, Charles F. Germeyer; and his brother, Matthew James Germeyer. Visitation will be held on Sunday, December 11, 2011 from 11:00 am to 9:00 pm, with a holy rosary to be recited at 7:00 pm, at Thomae-Garza Funeral Home in San Benito, Mass of Resurrection will be held on Monday, December 12, 2011 at 10:00 am at Our Heavenly Father Catholic Church in Olmito, Texas. Committal service will follow at Mont Meta Memorial Park in San Benito. Full military honors will be conducted at graveside by the American Legion Post 43 of Brownsville, Texas. In lieu of flowers, memorial donation may be sent to the Sunny Glenn Children's Home, 2385 West Expressway 83, San Benito, TX, (956) 399-5356.
