Guadalupe Vigil Gutierrez, 80, of Port Isabel, TX, entered into Eternal Rest on November 2, 2011 at her residence. Guadalupe was a lifetime resident of Port Isabel and a devoted member of Our Lady Star of the Sea Catholic Church; She was also a member of the Guadalupana, Visitante de Cristo, and Cadena de Oracion of Our Lady Star of the Sea Catholic Church. She is preceded in death by her husband, Roman Gutierrez; her son, Mario Gutierrez; her sister, Mercedes Welch; her brother, Mario Vigil; her niece, Lourdes Ochoa; and her son-in-law, Adolfo Gonzalez. She is survived by her three sons: Gregorio (Juanita) Gutierrez, Sr., Alfonso (Linda) Gutierrez, and Roman Gutierrez, Jr., all of Port Isabel; her two daughters, Guadalupe (Leon) Joseph of Thornton, Colorado, and Amada Gonzalez of Port Isabel; 12 grandchildren; 16 great-grandchildren; her brother, Fernando Vigil and her sister, Socorro Alamo, both of Port Isabel. Visitation will be held on Thursday, November 3, 2011 from 4:00 pm to 9:00 pm, with a holy rosary to be recited at 7:00 pm, at Thomae-Garza Funeral Home in San Benito. Mass of Resurrection will be held on Friday, November 4, 2011 at 10:00 am at Our Lady Star of the Sea Catholic Church located on 705 S. Longoria St. in Port Isabel. Cremation will follow in accordance to her wishes. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations can made to the RGV Diabetes Association, 2007 E. Owassa, Edinburg, TX, (956) 782- 1900.
