Mildred (Midge) Rosemary Westbrook, 88, of Laguna Vista, Texas passed away peacefully Sunday, April 3rd, 2016 at Valley Baptist Medical Center. Mildred was born in Fort Monroe, Virginia and raised in numerous locations across the country due to her father's military service. Due to her love of the water, she always spoke of Coral Gables, Florida as her favorite home while growing up. Mildred and her late husband of 47 years, Richard Westbrook were married in Dallas, Texas where she raised her family of five children and had a long successful career with Macy's Department Store. After retiring in 2002, Mildred moved to Laguna Vista Texas. Mildred enjoyed watching classic movies, reading novels and listening to music. She loved life and people. Her gift from God was kindness, and she always put others before herself. She will be dearly missed by all her family and friends. She was preceded in death by her husband, Richard Carr Westbrook; and parents, Florence Craine and James Henry Craine. Mildred is survived by five children, Betsy Owens, Doug Westbrook, Mark Westbrook, Devon Turner and Diane Cundiff, as well as nine grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren. A memorial service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Thursday, April 07, 2016 at Chapel by the Sea on South Padre Island, Texas with Pastor Sam Steele officiating and music by Brett Marshall.
