Daniel Salinas Betancourt, 92, of Laguna Heights, Texas, passed away on Monday, February 29, 2016 in Brownsville, Texas. He was preceded in death by his parents, Cayetano and Josefina Betancourt; one daughter, Debra Betancourt; one son-in-law, Arnulfo Martinez; one daughter-in-law, Maria Betancourt; one grandson, Joseph Daniel Martinez; one granddaughter, Rosario Lopez; and one sister, Josephina Herrera. He is survived by his loving wife, Casilda Martinez-Betancourt; his children: Guadalupe (Blanca) Betancourt, Amelia (Joe) Villarreal, Celia Martinez, Daniel (Brenda) Betancourt, Jr., Cristobal Betancourt, Reynaldo Betancourt, and Francisca (George) Oceguera; three brothers, Perfecto Salinas Betancourt, Cayetano Betancourt, and Guadalupe Betancourt; and one sister, Amelia B. Herrera. Also surviving him are several grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and great-great-grandchildren. Visitation will be held on Wednesday, March 2, 2016 from 3:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m., with a prayer service at 7:00 p.m., Pastor Steven Hyde officiating. at Thomae-Garza Funeral Home in San Benito, Texas.
