Juanita G. "Memo" Zapata, 94, of Port Isabel, TX, passed away on Tuesday, October 25, 2011 at St. Luke's Baptist Hospital in San Antonio, TX. She was a member of Our Lady Star of the Sea Catholic Church and a lifetime resident of Port Isabel. She was a past employee of Port Isabel Independent School District as a cafeteria worker for ten years. She is preceded in death by her husband, Eliodoro Zapata Sr.; her sons, Eliodoro Zapata Jr. and Jose Zapata whom passed away on October 22, 2011; and three daughters: Hortencia Ochoa, Felicitas Medrano, and Amanda Banda; Grandson, Efrain "Sonny" Banda; her parents, Francisco and Concepcion Jaime Gonzalez; and three brothers; She is survived by her loving daughters: Agustina Rivera (Seferino), Carlota Osorio (late Mauro), Christina Galvan (late Santana), Enriqueta Rose (late Donald), Maria Elena Rivera (Simon), and Lucila Castillo (Pete); her son, Roberto Medrano (Esmeralda); 35 grandchildren; 74 great-grandchildren; and 31 great-great grandchildren. Visitation will be held on Friday, October 28, 2011 from 2:00 pm to 4:00 pm at Thomae-Garza Funeral Home in San Benito. Visitation will continue from 6:00 pm to 9:00 pm, with a Holy Rosary recited at 7:00 pm, at Our Lady Star of the Sea Catholic Church, 705 S. Longoria St., Port Isabel, TX. Mass of Resurrection will be held on Saturday, October 29, 2011 at 10:00 am at Our Lady Star of the Sea Catholic Church in Port Isabel.
