Leonorsita Flores Montes, 100, of Los Fresnos, Texas, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, January 12, 2016 at her residence surrounded by her loving family. She was born on August 18, 1915 in San Carlos Tamaulipas, Mexico to Teofilo and Jesusa Flores and immigrated to the United States at a very young age. She married the love of her life, Isabel Montes in May of 1944 and they had six children. Leonorsita was blessed by God with healing powers. As natural healer, she would bless everyone and pray over them. The town of Los Fresnos and many more knew that if they were suffering from an ailment, Leonorsita was the one to see in order to feel better. Leonorsita was a former Catholic Daughter of St. Cecilia Catholic Church, a former member of the Ladies Auxiliary for the V.F.W. Post 2035 and American Legion Post 632 of Los Fresnos, Texas. Leonorsita was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and great-great-grandmother. She was loved by all that knew her and did everything in her power to make everyone feel special and loved. She will be deeply missed. Heaven is rejoicing the arrival of a true Angel. On behalf of her immediate family, a special gratitude goes out to: Dr. Rafael Lopez; Gentiva Hospice; Nurses: Venessa Valdez and Mary Chase; Chaplain Jacinto Flores, social worker, Andrea Belmont; her family at First Recreation Adult Day Care of Brownsville, Texas; and Director Rene Ramirez and Staff. She was preceded in death by: her husband, Isabel Montes; one son, Cayetano Montes; one daughter, Ofelia Montes; her parents, Teofilo and Jesusa Flores; her father and mother-in-law, Cayetano and Rosa Rodriguez Montes; and six siblings: Zoila Hernandez, Marina Garza, Elisa Flores, and Fidela Rodriguez, Gustavo Flores, and Refugio Flores. She is survived by two daughters, Elisa “Lila” (Luis) Nieto and Maria Isabel Guerrero; two sons, Jose Artemio Montes and Daniel (Mary) Montes; one daughter-in-law, Esperanza Montes; 22 grandchildren; 30 great-grandchildren; and five great-great-grandchildren. She is also survived by numerous nieces and nephews. Visitation will be held on Friday, January 15, 2016 from 11:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. at Thomae-Garza Funeral Home in San Benito, Texas. Visitation will continue from 6:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m., with a holy rosary at 7:00 p.m., at St. Cecilia Catholic Church in Los Fresnos, Texas. Funeral mass will be held at 9:30 a.m. on Saturday, January 16, 2016 at St. Cecilia Catholic Church. Interment will follow at Mont Meta Memorial Park. Serving as pallbearers will be Luis Nieto III, Richard Lee Uribe, Leopoldo Camaro, Guadalupe Canchola, Mario Montes, and Daniel Montes, Jr. Honorary pallbearers will be: Gustavo Flores, Martin Suarez, Jr., James Meier, Alberto Garza, Jimmy Canchola, Luis Nieto, Jr., and Albert Ortiz.
