Donald James Carver passed away on July 29, 2015 in Harlingen, Texas. He was born June 3, 1925 in Arlington, Washington and was a long time resident of the Rio Grande Valley. Mr. Carver had distinguished careers in both the United States Marine Corps and the United States Border Patrol. Survived by his longtime friend, Maria Ramos; two daughters Virginia Smith of Springfield, Missouri and Judith Kolb of Durham, North Carolina; along with three grandchildren: Brian Allen Norman of Edinburg, Texas; Angela Cherise Frazer of Releigh, North Carolina; and Isaiah Jonathan Kolb of Clinton, North Carolina; as well as four great-grandchildren. Visitation will be held on Sunday, August 9, 2015 from 12:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. at Thomae-Garza Funeral Home. A chapel service will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Monday, August 10, 2015 at Thomae-Garza Funeral Home. Interment will follow at Mont Meta Memorial Park with military honors to be conducted at graveside by American Legion John Hanson Post 43 of Brownsville, TX.
