Raul Zamora, Jr, 75, of Port Isabel, Texas, passed away on Monday, July 27, 2015 in Brownsville, Texas. Raul Zamora, Jr, “Rucho” was dedicated to his community. He served numerous years as a volunteer with the Port Isabel Fire Department. He enjoyed giving back to his community. Rucho was also a great contributor and played an active role with the Port Isabel High School Quarterback Club. He was a true at heart Tarpon Fan. He worked numerous years for the Port Isabel Water District and also owned his own construction company. Rucho was a commercial fisherman. During his retirement years, as a hobby, he committed himself to repairing and rebuilding outboard motors. He was preceded in death by his wife, Maria Esthela Zamora; his parents, Maria Flores Zamora and Raul Zamora, Sr.; and two sisters, Jesusa Zamora-Compean and Dora Z. Mata. He is survived by his three sons: Felipe De Jesus (Noelia) Zamora of Los Fresnos, Gustavo (Gloria) Zamora of Spokane, Washington, and Marco Antonio (Rosie) Zamora of Harlingen; one daughter, Liliana Zamora of Port Isabel; four grandchildren: Raul Andres “Ram” Zamora, Daviana Zamora, Celeste Madrid Zamora, and Roman Michael Zamora; two brothers: J.J. Zamora (Bertha) of Port Isabel and Horacio Zamora (Mary Alvarado) of Brownsville; six sisters: Mary Lou Almazan (Santiago) of Laguna Heights, Rosa Chavez (Jesse) of Los Fresnos, Blanca Garcia (Alberto) of Austin, Esther Castañeda (Rolando) of Laguna Vista, Linda Rendon (Luis) of Los Fresnos, and Sandra Zayas (Rick) of Brownsville; as well as numerous nephews and nieces. Visitation will be held on Friday, July 31, 2015 from 3:00 p.m. to 4:30 p.m. at Thomae-Garza Funeral Home and from 6:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m., with a holy rosary at 7:00 p.m., at Our Lady Star of the Sea Catholic Church, 705 S. Longoria St in Port Isabel, Texas. Funeral mass will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday, August 1, 2015 at Our Lady Star of the Sea Catholic Church in Port Isabel, Texas. Interment will follow at Port Isabel City Cemetery. Serving as pallbearers: Felipe Zamora, Gustavo Zamora, Marc Zamora, Ram Zamora, J.J. Zamora, Horacio Zamora, J.J. Zamora, Jr., Guillermo “Mito” Mora, and honorary pallbearer, Juan “Juanillo” Fernandez.
