Charles Edward Bennett, Jr., 57, of Los Fresnos, Texas, passed away on Wednesday, July 8, 2015 in Brownsville, Texas. Charles grew up in Port Isabel, Texas and resided in Los Fresnos, Texas for the past 29 years. He worked for the City of South Padre Island for the past nine years and was a member of the First Baptist Church of Port Isabel, Texas. He was preceded in death by his father, Charles Edward Bennett, Sr.; paternal grandparents, Luther and Mildred Grace Bennett; and maternal grandparents, Harlod and Ruby Boker. He is survived by his wife, Herlinda Salazar Contreras-Bennett; two daughters: Joelly Ann Bennett and Aitza Rachelle Bennett; three sons: Robert Salazar, Joseph Edward Bennett, and Nathan Ulises Bennett; his mother, Ula Eloise Bennett; one sister, Lisa Ann Nesmith; one niece, Lacy Teegerstrom; one nephew, Justin Nesmith; and several great-nieces, great-nephews, aunts, uncles, and cousins. Visitation will be held on Sunday, July 12, 2015 from 2:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m., with a prayer service at 7:30 p.m., at Thomae Garza Funeral Home in San Benito, Texas.
