Margarita T. Torres, 84, of Port Isabel, passed away on Saturday, April 4, 2015 at her residence surrounded by her loving family.
A longtime resident of Port Isabel, Margarita became a US citizen in November of 1996. Margarita was a long time member of Our Lady Star of the Sea Catholic Church and was a member of the Guadalupanas and served in many church activities as well as quilting prayer blankets for the sick. She loved gardening, and was a very loving and caring person to all and will be dearly missed.
She is preceded in death by her husband Sipriano S. Torres, her parents Eliseo and Sofia Lopez Troncoso and one grandson, Rodney Perez as well as several brothers and sisters.
Left to cherish her memory are her 10 children: Francisco (Lorraine) Torres; Rosemary (Baldemar) Valdez; Catalina (Patrick) Manning; Alicia (Patricio) Perez; Emelia (Humberto) Martinez; Maria (Manuel) Espinosa; Janie (Victor) Barrera; Juan Antonio (Sylvia) Torres; Cipriano (Bernice) Torres and Daniel Roberto (Perla) Torres. Her brothers and sisters: Andres (Julia) Troncoso; Reyes (Carmen) Troncoso; Rosa Baldonado, Elena (Rolando) Rodriguez; Manuel Delgado; numerous nieces and nephews; 26 grandchildren; 31 great grandchildren; and 2 great great grandchildren.
Visitation will be held on Monday, April 6, 2015 from 6:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. at place in Our Lady Star of the Sea Catholic Church with a Holy Rosary to be recited at 7:00 p.m.
Funeral mass will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Tuesday, April 7, 2015 at Our Lady Star of the Sea Catholic Church, Burial will follow at Port Isabel City Cemetery.
Honored to serve as pallbearers are: Baldemar Valdez Jr.; Victor Valdez; Andrew Manning; Steven Martinez; Manuel Espinosa Jr.; Frankie Espinosa; John William Barrera; Orlando Torres; and Christian Torres.
