Joel Abrego, 58, of San Benito passed away on Thursday, November 25, 2010. He is preceded in death by his parents, Santiago and Maria Consuelo Abrego; a nephew, John Andrew Galarza; his mother-in-law, Elvira Estada; and two brother-in-laws, Guadalupe Estrada and Ramon Estrada. Joel is survived by his wife, Josefina Estrada Abrego; 2 brothers, Santiago (Rebecca) Abrego, Jr. and Jesus L. (Leticia) Abrego; 4 sisters, Fidela Abrego-Garza, Sarita (John) Galarza, Reyes (Cipriano) Naranjo, and Maria Elena (Merritt) Black; and his 2 godchildren, Kayla Claudio and Nathaniel Guadalupe Claudio; a sister-in-law, Gracie Estrada of San Benito; along with several nephews, nieces and other relatives. Visitations will be held on Tuesday, November 30, 2010 from 3:00 P.M. to 9:00 P.M with a Holy Rosary recited at 7:00 P.M. at Thomae-Garza Funeral Home in San Benito. Mass of Resurrection will be held on December 1, 2010 at 1:00 P.M. at St. Joseph Catholic Church in San Benito. Interment will follow to San Benito City Cemetery. Pallbearers will be John Galazar, Cipriano Naranjo, Jesus Abrego, Gerardo Garza, Eric Galazar, and Santiago Abrego, Jr.; honorary pallbearer will be Emiliano Longoria.
