Rio Hondo, TX- Genaro Alfaro, Jr., 88, passed away on Thursday, October 14, 2010 at his residence in Rio Hondo. He is preceded in death by his wife, Ciria Alfaro; and a grandson, Jesus Herrera, Jr. Genaro is survived by his children, Antonia Florez, Josefina (Jesus) Herrera, Guadalupe (Juan) Cortez, Roberto (Elma) Alfaro, Olga (Manuel) Ortega, Corina Alfaro and Hector (Hilda) Alfaro; along with 19 grandchildren and 22 great grandchildren. Visitation was held on Friday, October 15, 2010 from 4:00 P.M. to 9:00 P.M. with a Holy Rosary recited at 7:00 P.M. at Thomae-Garza Funeral Home in San Benito. Mass of Resurrection will be held on Saturday, October 16, 2010 at 10:00 A.M. at St. Helen Catholic Church in Rio Hondo. Committal Service will follow to Las Yescas Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Lionel Sanchez, Genaro Ortega, Israel Ortega, Manuel Ortega, Jaime Figueroa and Eutimio Alaniz; honorary pallbearers will be Gilberto Ignacio Sanchez and Marco A. Alfaro.
