San Benito, TX- Maria Vasquez Garcia, 85, of San Benito passed away on August 24, 2010 at Solara Hospital in Harlingen. She was born on August 20, 1925 to Herlinda Ybarra and Pedro Vasquez in San Benito, TX. She is preceded in death by her mother, Herlinda Ybarra; father, Pedro Vasquez; her daughters, Viola and Celia Garcia; her brother, Seferino Ybarra; and her grandchildren, Cindy Morales, Eddie Villarreal and Vanessa Flores. Maria is survived by her 5 daughters, Frances Morales, Otilia Garza, Irma Acosta, Clemencia Gonzales and Gloria Garcia; 3 sons, Juan Garcia, Luis Garcia and Pedro Garcia, Jr.; 22 grandchildren, which includes Melissa and Michael Garcia who she raised from childhood and considered as her own children; 18 great grandchildren; a great-great grandchild; her sisters, Irene Salazar, Dolores Najera, Connie Garza and Fela Huerta. Visitation will be held Friday, August 27, 2010 from 12 Noon to 9:00 P.M. with a Holy Rosary recited at 7:00 P.M. at Thomae-Garza Funeral Home in San Benito. Mass of Resurrection will be held on Saturday, August 28, 2010 at 10:00 A.M. at St. Joseph Catholic Church. Interment followed to San Benito City Cemetery.
