Guadalupe "Lupe" R. Martinez Sr., 68 of Port Isabel, Texas entered into eternal rest on Friday, June 22, 2007 at Harlingen Medical Center, surrounded by his loving family. Guadalupe "Lupe" was born and raised in Port Isabel, Texas where he attended school and played football. He worked for the shrimping industry for 32 years. Guadalupe was preceded in death by his parents David C. Martinez and Rosa R. Martinez, along with his brother David Martinez Jr. and a nephew David Martinez III. Guadalupe is survived by his loving wife, Juanita S. Martinez; Son, Guadalupe S. Martinez Jr.; Four daughters, Diana (Daniel) Medina of Port Isabel, Norma (Mauro) Uribe of Brownsville, Janie Martinez Moore of Port Isabel, and Rosie (Eddie) S. Martinez of Brownsville; 10 grandchildren, Richard Martinez, Benny Gonzalez, C.J. Sandiford, Richard E. Moore III, Jeffrey Martinez, Johnny Nieto, Danny Medina Jr., Maurito Uribe Jr., Demi Moore and Cierra Sandiford; 3 Great Grandchildren, R.J. Martinez Jr., Isis Sandiford, and Benjamin Gonzalez; 3 Brothers, Rene Martinez of Kyle, Texas, Rosendo Martinez of Port Isabel, and Abelardo Martinez of Los Fresnos; and 5 Sisters, Elida Hunt of Wenden, AZ., Rosa Martinez of Glendale, AZ., Juanita Vergara of Phoenix, AZ., Ernestina Pecero of Phoenix, AZ., and Alma Leos of North Richland Hills, Texas; Several Nephews, Nieces and other relatives. Visitation will be held today Sunday June 24, 2007 from 5:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. a Holy Rosary recited at 7:00 p.m. at Thomae-Garza Funeral Home, in San Benito; Visitation will continued from 10 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. on Monday June 25, 2007 at Thomae-Garza Funeral Home in San Benito and viewing will continued in the evening at the church from 6:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. with a Holy Rosary recited at 7:00 p.m. at Our Lady Star of the Sea Catholic Church, 705 S. Longoria St in Port Isabel. Funeral Services will be held 10:00 a.m. Tuesday June 26, 2007 at Our Lady Star of the Sea Catholic Church in Port Isabel. Interment will follow to Port Isabel City Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Richard Martinez, Benny Gonzalez, Jeffery Martinez, Johnny Nieto, C.J.
