Leonel (Leo) Gomez, 59, the son of Emeterio and Sofia Guajardo Gomez, was born November 5, 1950 in Brownsville, Texas and passed from this life on Good Friday, April 2, 2010 in Irving, Texas following a short illness. Leo had been able to overcome early in life health trials with the wonderful help and support from family and friends. Leonel grew-up in the Rio Grande Valley (Los Fresnos). He graduated from High School in Los Fresnos, Texas and moved to Carrollton in 1972 where he became a dedicated (32 years) employee of the Halliburton Company. He served all departments as a mail clerk. He is preceded in death by his father Emeterio Gomez. He is survived by his mother, Sofia Guajardo Gomez of Los Fresnos; a daughter, Lisa Michelle Gomez Vallet; two grandchildren, Angelique and Joelle all of Carrollton; his brothers, Guadalupe (Moneta) of Carrollton, Alberto (Janie) of Los Fresnos, Manuel (Olga) of San Benito, Jorge (Adriana) of Carrollton, and Gustavo of Austin; sisters, Anita (Roberto) Longoria of Flower Mound, Silvia (Victor) Gonzales of San Benito, Rosalinda Garcia of San Benito and Maricela (Luis) Lozano of Frisco and numerous nephews, nieces, aunts, uncles and a host of good friends. Visitation will be Wednesday, April 7, 2010 from 10:00 A.M. to 9:00 P.M. with a Holy Rosary at 7:00 P.M. at the Thomae-Garza Funeral Home. Mass of Resurrection will be Thursday, April 8, 2010 at 10:00 a.m. at St. Cecilia Catholic Church in Los Fresnos, TX. Interment will follow to the Buena Vista Burial Park in Brownsville, Texas. Leo was a loving & kind person who was pure of heart and thoughtful to all who knew him. He enjoyed walking to work and other places around Carrollton. He loved visiting his Mother, Brothers and Sisters in Los Fresnos, TX; and is now resting in heaven, a place our Lord has prepared for him.
