Rogelio "Roy" Gonzalez, 51, of Brownsville, TX, passed away Saturday March 13, 2010 at his residence in Brownsville TX. He was preceded in death by his mother, Concepcion Gonzalez; 2 sisters, Angelita Cortez and Linda Garcia. Roy was a life long resident of Brownsville. He was a member of James Pace High School first graduating class in 1977. During high school he served as a West Brownsville Little League umpire for many years. After graduating he found his career in the automotive parts business. He worked for various auto parts companies in Brownsville and in Harlingen. Most recently he was the manager of National Coating and Supply, a division of Car Quest, in Brownsville, Texas. Roy had a love of grilling barbecue. He was known to friends, workers, and family members for barbecuing some of the best fajitas and ribs around. He enjoyed cooking for his workers whenever a store goal was reached or to celebrate a holiday. He always had a huge smile on his face that would brighten anyone's day. Roy enjoyed listening to classic rock and recently had attended a Carlos Santana concert. He had a love for life and was always willing to help out anyone in need. Roy was a loving and caring person who will be dearly missed by all the lives he touched. His soul is now soaring like an eagle in the sky. He survived by his loving wife of 19 years, Maribel Lopez Gonzalez of Brownsville; His 4 loving children, Sadie Gonzalez, Cecily Gonzalez, Michael Gonzales, and Noah Fuentes all of Brownsville; Father, Gregorio "George" (Concepcion) Gonzalez of Los Fresnos; Brother, Robert (Sylvia) Gonzalez of Brownsville; 2 Sisters, Sandra (Joe) Garcia of Brownsville and Alicia Pena of McAllen, Texas; Mother in law, Cecilia Forbes of Port Isabel; Several sisters in laws, Brothers in laws, aunts, uncles, nephews, and nieces. Visitation will be held on Monday March 15, 2010 from 2:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. with a Chapel Services to begin at 7:00 p.m. with Pastor Steven Hyde officiating at Thomae-Garza Funeral Home in San Benito with cremation to follow to Sacred Park Crematorium.
