San Benito, TX. -In loving memory of Maria Blanca Montemayor, 78, who went to be with our Heavenly Father on February 22, 2010. She was born on January 7, 1932 in Los Fresnos, Texas to Santiago A. Flores and Angelita G. Flores. She is preceded in death by her parents. Blanca was a dedicated and loving daughter, sister, wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and friend who was a symbol of faith and devotion to Christ; helping her to accept life's tribulations and rejoice in many blessings given to her and her family. For more than fifty years, she was a faithful member of Our Lady Queen of the Universe and St. Joseph Catholic Churches. She served as a member of St. Joseph Altar Society, was an active Eucharistic minister, and alongside her husband, Hernan, they founded St. Joseph Spanish Prayer group. Her last active role in the parish was coordinator of the Perpetual Adoration of the Holy Sacrament at Queen of the Universe. Left to cherish her memory is her family; her husband of 58 years, Hernan Montemayor of San Benito; daughters, Elida (Erasmo) Escobedo, Teresa Montemayor; sons, Herman (Elizabeth), Gilbert (Blanca) , Jim (Yvette), and Johnny Joe (Lisa) Montemayor; 13 grandchildren and 14 great-grandchildren; her sisters, Teresa Alvear, Dominga Gonzalez, Santos Solis, Consuelo (Enrique) Saldana, and Rosa (Leonel) de la Fuente. Visitation will be held Wednesday, February 24, 2010 at Thomae-Garza Funeral Home from 12:00 P.M. to 9:00 P.M. with a Holy Rosary at 7:00 P.M. Mass will be celebrated by Father Issac Erondu at Our Lady Queen of the Universe Catholic Church on Thursday, February 25, 2010 at 2:00 P.M. with interment to follow to Mont Meta Memorial Park.
