Port Isabel, TX- Jose Luis "Chucky" Medrano, 27, of Port Isabel, TX passed away February 16, 2010 at Valley Baptist Medical Center in Harlingen. Chucky was a lifetime resident of Port Isabel; a member of Our Lady Star of the Sea Catholic Church; at the age of 15 he became involved with the Explorer Program for the City of Port Isabel Police Dept., in 2003 to 2008 he work as a dispatcher for the City of Port Isabel. He is preceded in death by his mother, Donna Lee Medrano; an uncle, Antonio Rodriguez, Jr.; and his paternal grandfather, Guadalupe Rogelio Puentes. Chucky is survived by his father, Jose Angel Medrano, Jr. of Port Isabel; a brother, Jose Miguel Medrano of Port Isabel; his paternal grandmother, Gloria Garcia Puentes of Port Isabel, uncle, Albert (Maria) Miranda of Port Isabel; 3 aunts, Lupita (Roel) Chavez of Brownsville; Evangelina (Juan Carlos) Apango of Port Isabel; and Nancy Puentes of Port Isabel; along with numerous cousins and other relatives. Visitation will be held on Friday, February 19, 2010 from 2:00 P.M. to 9:00 P.M. with a Holy Rosary recited at 7:00 P.M. at Thomae-Garza Funeral Home in San Benito. Chapel Service will be held Saturday, February 20, 2010 at 10:00 A.M. at Thomae-Garza Funeral Home. Interment will follow to Port Isabel City Cemetery.
