Obituary of Aurora Moreau

Port Isabel, Texas: Aurora (Dawn) Ochoa Moreau born January 26, 1924, died peacefully in her sleep, at 5:30 am on December 24, 2009, attended by close family members in Port Isabel, Texas. An Extraordinary Minister of the Eucharistic at Our Lady Star of the Sea Catholic Church, Mrs. Moreau was visited by her priest and faithful church members, her sisters, children, grandchildren, nephews, nieces and cousins before her death. Beloved wife of the late Harold C. Moreau, daughter of the late Benito Ochoa, Sr. and Virginia Torres Ochoa, she is also preceded in death by her brothers Arnoldo Ochoa and Benito Ochoa, Jr., and her sister Lucila Ochoa Green. Mrs. Moreau met and married her husband "Harry", who was in the Coast Guard and stationed at South Padre Island, TX during World War II. They went on to raise ten children in Victoria, TX, where Harry worked for DuPont as a chemist. She was very active in church work all her life, worked tirelessly for her children's schools serving as PTA President, served as Mothers Club President at St. Joseph, chaired numerous fund raising activities, and was regarded with great affection by the nuns and brothers of Nazareth Academy and St. Joseph High School. She was an active member of the Currer Bell Study Club, and was honored as "Mother of the Year" by the Federation of Women's Clubs in 1963. She was also a Den Mother for the Boy Scouts and Cub Scouts. She was an invaluable assistant to her nephew, Judge Bennie Ochoa III in Port Isabel for ten years before she retired. The family would like to express our gratitude to him and his mother, our wonderful "Tia" Marie, her sisters Arcelia Ochoa Gonzalez and Inez Ochoa Hinojosa, and our cousins for their help and attention. Beloved mother of ten children, she is survived by William J. Moreau and wife Eileen, Robert C. Moreau and wife Phyllis (deceased), Michele A. Moreau Jones and husband Christopher, Suzanne M. Moreau Oertel and husband James, Theresa A. (Terry) Moreau Palacio and husband Rafael, Mark F. Moreau, Matthew N. Moreau and wife Caroline, Dana M. Moreau Taylor and husband Graham, Virginia A. (Gigi) Moreau, Lamar J. Moreau and wife, Michelle, sixteen grandchildren, and 17 great grandchildren; Her two sisters, Arcelia "Cheo" Ochoa de Gonzalez and Inez Ochoa de Hinojosa; Sister in law, Maria Del Rosario Vega Ochoa; Several nephews, nieces, cousins and other relatives. Visitation will be held on Tuesday December 29, 2009 from 6:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. with a Holy rosary recited at 7:00 p.m. at Our Lady Star of the Sea Catholic Church, 705 S. Longoria St. in Port Isabel. Funeral Mass will be held on Wednesday December 30, 2009 at 10:00 a.m. at Our Lady Star of the Sea Catholic Church in Port Isabel. Interment will follow to Port Isabel City Cemetery. Pallbearers will be her four sons, William Joseph Moreau, Robert Charles Moreau, Mark F. Moreau, Matthew N.
