Obituary of Victoria Gonzalez

Mrs. Victoria Guadalupe Gonzalez, 78, entered the pearly gates of heaven at her residence in Port Isabel on Thursday, July 2, 2009. She is preceded in death by her husband Gualberto G. Gonzalez Sr., her son Gualberto Gonzalez Jr., her parents Juan and Guadalupe Garza, her brothers Marcos Garza, Juan S. Garza, Alberto Garza, and her sisters Lucia Camacho, Francis Leazenbe, Maria Refugia Conway. Guadalupe was born on November 17, 1930 in Port Isabel, Texas. She and her husband of 37 years had several business ventures starting with shrimp boats, followed by the Far Horizon Apartments in South Padre Island, the first flower shop in Port Isabel called "Lupe's Flower Shop" later to be the first location of Pirate's Landing, and several real estate ventures throughout the Laguna Madre area, Brownsville and Harlingen. She had a passion for traveling and vacationing in Las Vegas where she visited several times throughout the year every year. She was a loving wife and an exceptional mother, grandmother and sister. She loved to spend time with the loves of her life her family. She loved to cook for her family and friends. She could light up the skies with her great personality and her divine character. She will sincerely be missed by her family, relatives and friends. Guadalupe is survived by her oldest daughter Diana G. (+Ruben) Castillo their children Ruben (Priscilla) Castillo Jr., Joseph Castillo, Victoria Castillo (Albert Garza), Tabatha Castillo-Melchor, and her youngest daughter (Jeannie) (Ernest) Torrez, her children Pvt. Clinton Camacho, Kimberly (Richard) de Leon. Her eldest son, (+) Gualberto Gonzalez Jr. children: Gualberto Gonzalez III, Jon Evans Gonzalez, Steven Gonzalez, Robert Gonzalez, Ryan Gonzalez She had eleven grandchildren, eight great-grandchildren and several nieces, nephews and cousins. Visitation will be held Sunday, July 5, 2009 from 12:00 P.M. to 4:00 P.M. at Thomae-Garza Funeral Home and will continue from 6:00 P.M. to 9:00 P.M. with a Holy Rosary recited at 7:00 P.M. at Our Lady Star of the Sea Catholic Church, 705 S. Longoria St. in Port Isabel, TX. A Funeral Mass will be held on Monday, July 6, 2009 at 10:00 A.M. at Our Lady Star of the Sea in Port Isabel. Interment will follow to Port Isabel City Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Ruben Castillo Jr. Joseph Castillo, Pvt. Clinton Camacho, Gualberto Gonzalez III, Jon Evans Gonzalez, Steven Gonzalez, Albert Garza, Richard de Leon, and Ernest Torrez. Honorary pallbearers will be Dylan de Leon, Gilbert Joseph Garza, CJ Myer, and Ramon Camacho. A heart felt thank you to Ramona Garza and family, Albert Vega, Mary Lou Galvan and Odyssey Hospice Services. The family would also like to thank everyone for their sincere sentiments and prayers in our time of sorrow.
