San Benito, TX- Santos "Faja Ancha" Herrera, 94, of San Benito, passed away Wednesday, June 10, 2009 at Sunshine Haven in Olmito. He was a great father, brother, abuelo, bisabuelo and friend; he was a good provider and a hard worker as well as a devoted catholic and a great man in itself. He is preceded in death by his loving wife, Hortencia Herrera; his 2 sons, Santos Herrera, Jr. and Homero Herrera; his parents, Mariano and Candelaria Herrera; 4 brothers, Guadalupe, Mariano, Telesforo and Francisco Herrera; 2 grandsons, Jesus Soto and David Partida; and a great granddaughter, Alexa Grace Leos. Santos is survived by his children, Ofelia (Jose) Martinez, Jose Olivo (Maria) Herrera, Olivia (Francisco, Jr.) Soto, Josefina (Ernesto, Jr.) Moreno, Olga (Jose Luis) Hernandez, Oralia Herrera, Oliverio (San Juana) Herrera, Sr., Odilia (Raul, Sr.) Partida, Otilia Trevino, Jose Ofidio (Herminia) Herrera, Tencha Soria, Maria del Rosario (Jose Luis) Salazar and Evangelina (Ramon) Sandoval; 43 grandchildren, 50 great grandchildren and 6 great-great grandchildren. Visitation will be held on Friday, June 12, 2009 from 10:00 A.M. to 9:00 P.M. with a Holy Rosary to be recited at 7:00 P.M. at Thomae-Garza Funeral Home in San Benito. Funeral Mass will be held on Saturday, June 13, 2009 at 10:00 A.M. at St. Theresa Catholic Church. Interment will follow to Mont Meta Memorial Park in San Benito.
