Port Isabel/ San Benito, TX- John G. Cook, 79, passed away peacefully at his home in San Benito on May 11, 2009. John was born on November 23, 1929 in Castroville, TX. He was a member of All Saints Episcopal Church in San Benito. He was a Former Building Inspector and police dispatcher for the City of Port Isabel; He entered into active duty in December 03, 1946, he served as a CPL in the United States Air Force during World War II and stationed in Panama and was Honorably discharged in October 11, 1949. John is survived by his wife of 55 years, Eleanor "Cissy" Cook; his daughter, Debra (Jim) Hill of Everett, WA; his sons, John G. (Mary Ellen) Cook, Jr. of San Antonio, TX; and James R. (Jean) Cook of Bayview, TX; his grandchildren, T.J. Hill and Lea Hart of Everett, WA; and Kristen Vail Cook of Bayview, TX; and his 4 great grandchildren, Christian and Gabriel Hill and Emma and Eleanor Hart all of Everett, WA. Memorial Service will be held on Tuesday, May 19, 2009 at 11:00 A.M. at Thomae-Garza Funeral Home with Father Jerry Harris officiating. Military Honors will be conducted at the memorial service by American Legion Post # 205 and V.F.W. Post # 8791 of Harlingen, Texas. Burial at Sea will follow at 2:30 P.M. in the Laguna Madre behind Pelican Station Restaurant, 201 S. Garcia St., Port Isabel. In lieu of flowers memorial can be made in memory of John G. Cook to All Saints Episcopal Church, P.O. Box 1948, San Benito, Texas 78586 or charity of your choice. Words of comfort can be sent to the family of John G.
