San Benito, TX- Matthew Obadiah Cantu, 17, of San Benito, TX passed away Wednesday, May 6, 2009 South Padre Island, TX. He was in the Junior (11th grade) Class of San Benito High School. Matthew had a passion for wood crafting and writing poetry in school. Matthew is survived by his mother, Nora Cantu; his sisters, Maranda Gonzales and Mariah Padilla; his stepfather, Reymundo Padilla; his maternal grandparents, Gilbert and Gloria Cantu; a nephew, Jayden Gonzales; his aunts, Norma Gonzalez and Nelda Machuca; an uncle, Gilbert Cantu, Jr.; and his girlfriend, Ashley Camacho; along with several cousins and other relatives. A Chapel Service will be held on Saturday, May 9, 2009 at 11:00 A.M. at Thomae-Garza Funeral Home. Interment will follow to San Benito City Cemetery. Pallbearers will be John DeLeon, Marco Alvarez, Jesus Mideles, Juan Gaona, Danny Romero, Gabriel Garza, Eran Gonzales and Adrian Romero.
