William D. Suhr died at the age of 84. He is survived by his wife of 58 years, Anna Marie; daughters, Jennifer and Constance; a son William; two grandsons Andrew and Brian and a step granddaughter Audreu. Bill was born in O'Neill, Nebraska , in 1924, attended college at the University of Nebraska in Lincoln and at Ohio Northern University in Ada , Ohio , where he earned a doctor of laws degree. He served two terms in the military, from 1943 to 1946 as an Infantry Captain on Okinawa , and two more years, 1951-1953, when called back to duty during the Korean War. Bill worked as a corporate attorney from 1952 to 1973 when he and his wife bought the White Sands Motor Lodge and Marina in Port Isabel, which they operated until 1989. Bill was active in the South Padre Island-Port Isabel Chamber Of Commerce and was their Man of the Year in 1984. He served on the Port Isabel City Commission and was active in Rotary, serving one year as president. He was active in other civic affairs. Bill collected antique cars, liked camping and travel, and lived in Laguna Vista his last years. There will be no services.
