Port Isabel, Texas- Rolando "Rudy" Garza, 66, of Port Isabel , entered into rest on June 30, 2011 at his residence surrounded by his loving family. Rudy was born on January 21, 1945 in Port Isabel, Texas. He is preceded in death by his parents, Adolfo and Esperanza B. Garza, Sr.; and his two sisters: Josephine Gonzales and Nellie Cuellar. He is survived by his loving wife of 39 years, Delia Garza; his loving children, Rolando "Rollie" (Esmeralda) Garza, Jr., Raul (Glendora) Garza, and Dinah (Francisco) Silva; grandchildren, Francisco Silva III, Kayla Renae Garza, Andrew Rolando Silva, and Raul Garza, Jr.; brothers , Adolfo (Cristina) Garza and Roy (Rebeca) Garza, Sr.; sisters, Vitay (Leon) Irvin, Anna Melina, Katie Rocha, Ada Gonzalez, and Gloria Dominguez, his best friend Joe Cavazos. He is also survived by numerous uncles, aunts, nieces, nephews, in laws, other relatives and friends. Rudy was retired from the Laguna Madre Water District after thirty years of service. He also served as a faithful Deacon at The Lighthouse Assembly of God Church for 20 years. In the later years he and Delia served as missionaries in Mexico. To say that he will be deeply missed by his family and friends is an understatement. If ever there was a man who fought the good fight, it was our beloved Rudy. Through all the triumphs and toils in life, his deep rooted faith and belief in his Lord Jesus Christ never wavered. If anything, his faith became more strong day by day. Rudy was truly a man who was happy and lived life with peace and laughter. His departure from this life leaves all who knew him with an array of emotions from deep grief to a joy that he now is with his King in Eternal Paradise. "That if you confess with your mouth , "Jesus is Lord" and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved". Romans 10:9. Visitation will be held Saturday, July 2, 2011 from 12:00 noon to 9:00 PM with a funeral service to be held at 6:00 PM at Thomae-Garza Funeral Home with Rev. Christian Edge officiating. Cremation will follow in accordance with his wishes. In lieu of flowers a memorial may be made in memory of Rudy Garza to the Laguna Madre Boys and Girls Club, 190 Port Rd., Port Isabel, TX.
