It is with profound sadness that we announce the passing of Maria Eufemia Hernandez Gomez. Maria was born on September 3, 1937, in Port Isabel, Texas to parents, Miguel Hernandez and Thomasa Hernandez. She is survived by her husband Juan Gomez and children, Tommy Cantu (Reynaldo), Irene Gomez (Edward Torres), M. Isabel Serna (Dan S.) Juan Gomez, Jr. (Debbie Yzaguirre) and Hilaria Gomez (Ralph Estrada); her grandchildren, Randy Cantu, Telly Cantu, Ava Gomez, Caine Gomez, Victoria Estrada, Michael Estrada, Christian Estrada, and Hunter Serna also a lot of nephews and nieces from all of Texas and Washington. Maria is preceded in death by her parents, brothers, Juan F. Hernandez, Santiago Hernandez, Reyes Hernandez and Sisters, Victoria Segura, Euriquita Landeros and Rosa Gonzalez. Visitation will be held Wednesday, February 14, 2024, from 3:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. with the recitation of the Holy Rosary at 7:00 p.m. at Thomae-Garza Funeral Home in San Benito, TX. A Funeral Mass will be held on Thursday, February 15, 2024, at 11:00 a.m. at Our Lady Star of the Sea Catholic Church, 705 S. Longoria St, Port Isabel, TX. with cremation to follow in accordance with her wishes. Pallbearers are Reynaldo Cantu, Dan Serna, Lupe Gonzalez, Rolando Gonzalez, Ralph Estrada, and Edward Torres. Honorary Pallbearers are Christian Estrada, Michael Estrada, Hunter Serna, Caine Gomez, Ava Gomez, Telly Cantu, Victoria Estrada, and Randy Cantu.
