Maria Luisa, (Mary Lou), Villarreal, 82, of Los Fresnos, TX, passed away Tuesday, November 28, surrounded by family. She was born August 25, 1941 in Matamoros, MX to the late Maria (Montalvo) and Eliseo S. Villarreal and was raised in San Benito, Texas on Hidalgo Street. She graduated from Villa Maria High School in Brownsville and then moved to Dallas to study at the University of Dallas/St. Paul University where she obtained her degree and license as an X-Ray technician. She married Manuel R. Villarreal of San Benito, TX in February 1965 and was happily married for 58 years, nine months. Maria Luisa is survived by her husband; Manuel R. Villarreal, her four sons; Manuel Ricardo ‘Rick’ (Mary Valdez), Xavier (Sonia), Alberto ‘Beto’ (Candace)and Miguel ‘Mike’ (Lety); Grand Children, Danielle Kyral, Cassandra, Anica, Christian, Celeste, Camila, Mia and Evan; Great grand children, Austin Lawler and Andrea Licona; Siblings, Eliseo (Raquel) Villarreal, Elisa (Joseph) Lopez and aunt great aunt of numerous nieces, nephews. A celebration of Maria Luisa’s life will be held Thursday, November 30, 2023, from 5:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. with the recitation of the Holy Rosary at 7:00 p.m. at Thomae Garza Funeral Home in San Benito, TX. A Funeral Mass will be held on Friday, December 1, 2023, at 10:00 a.m. at St. Benedict Catholic Church, 351 S. Bowie St., San Benito, TX with interment to follow to Mont Meta Memorial Cemetery.
