Obituary of George Paul Hanson

Please share a memory of George to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.
It is with broken hearts that we announce the sudden and unexpected passing of our Dad, grandfather, brother and good friend George Paul Hanson on November 17, 2023. George was born to George Hilding Hanson and Peggy Ann Strader along with his identical twin brother John Peter Hanson on June 8th, 1965 in Soldotna, Alaska. George was currently living in Port Aransas, Texas working his dream job as a Boat Captain for Coastal Crew Boats. A huge part of his life was spent on or near the water which is where he loved to be, fishing every chance he got. George had lived in Kennard, Texas for 20 years where he has many close friends who will miss him. He loved being on “the farm” in the East Texas piney woods where he was a Dad, father figure, and role model for more than just his own children. He was a jack of all trades ….. carpenter, plumber, electrician, mechanic, farmer, you name it he could do it. Our Dad was easy-going, witty, always had a smile on his face and was a good soul. He never met a stranger and after you met him, you would remember him forever. He was not just smart but very intelligent and could discuss absolutely anything with anyone. He was a voracious reader and never left home without a couple of books tucked under his arm or in his bag. Our Dad lived a life full of adventure and was always happy with where he was and what he had at that very moment…. no more, and no less. George was preceded in death by his parents and twin brother John. Left to live our lives without him are his daughters Brittany Lopez, Lily Hanson, Ashley Hanson, his son EMN2 George Andrew Hanson, step-son Michael Rodriguez, and foster son Nicholas Ward. His beloved grandchildren Kighlee and Johnny Lopez, Quailin Stafford, Xaiver and Jireh Vargas. Sisters Jo Snyder and Paula Danley. Many nieces and nephews, John Hanson, Anthony Hanson, Nicholas Hanson, Rachael Wright, Peggy Dixon, and Carrie Snyder. A Celebration of George’s life will be held at a later date. “A full sea rolls and thunders in glory and in glee. O, bury me not in the senseless earth but in the living sea!” – William Ernest Henley You may sign the online guestbook, light a remembrance candle, or send words of comfort to the family of George Paul Hanson at www.thomaegarza.com.
