Obituary of Patrick Michael Dunavan

Patick “Pat” Dunavan passed away peacefully in his sleep on September 15, 2023. Patrick was born in San Antonio in Sept 1945. He served in the Army and worked many years as sales representative for Lone Star Brewery before moving to the DFW area. Pat loved good food and the Texas Longhorns and was an active member of the Texas Exes Longhorns Club. Pat never met a stranger and was liked by everyone. Known as a man of his word, very genuine, even tempered happy and thoughtful with a great sense of humor. He will be dearly missed by the many friends who loved him including his dog Blizzard who watched the Longhorns games beside Pat in his recliner. Pat was fortunate to have wonderful neighbors, and many friends who loved him. Pat had a well-lived life. He will be forever missed by the many lives he touched. Pat was very knowledgeable in many subjects and held many interests. He played guitar, loved good music, fishing, astronomy, American history and study of the constitution, Irish history and Irish music are just a few. He was preceeded in death by his wife and soul mate Mary Esther Dunavan whom he married in 1973; parents, August Dunavan, and Ruth Mithcell Dunavan; and sister Elizabeth Ashworth. Those left to mourn his loss are his brother, Bill Dunavan of Sugarland Texas and two nieces of his sister Elizabeth Ashworth. He is also survived by numerous nieces and nephews from his beloved wife, Mary Esthers family. A private Family service will be held at Fort Sam Houston National Cemetery in San Antonio where he will be buried by his dear departed wife “ Esther” Wednesday, October 11, 2023, at 10:30 am. A Celebration of Pats life will be held in Fort Worth Texas in early November.
