Obituary of George Bonas

George Bonas, 71, of Brownsville passed away Sunday, July 30, 2017 at home surrounded by family. He was born June, 26th, 1946 in Katerini, Greece, where his early years were spent working in the fields and playing soccer. He moved to the United States in 1970 with an American dream, finally settling in Brownsville in 1990 where he owned his own business. He was a proud business man whose legacy lives on with his girls. An avid and accomplished fisherman, much of his time was spent on the bay, where of course his “spots” were always best. He was an animal lover and proud to be a frequent contributor to the Brownsville A.S.P.C.A. 

He was preceded in death by his wife Theofili Bonas

Left to cherish his memory are his daughters, Virginia Bonas-Rode of Pflugerville, Sophia Bonas of South PadreIsland; son-in-law, Chad Rode and grandchildren, Zoie and Alexander Rode. 

He will be laid to rest alongside his beloved “Foula” in his hometown of Katerini, Greece.
