Obituary of Amparo M. Chavarria

Amparo M. Chavarria, 78, of Rio Hondo, Texas, passed away on Wednesday, July 19, 2017 at the Harlingen Nursing and Rehabilitation Center.

Amparo was born in Mexico to Rosendo and Leonor C. Martinez on November 21,1938. She is known as Mama Pau to all her nieces, nephews, great nieces, great nephews and all other children she cared for.  She left Rio Hondo and moved to California where she married her husband Lalo Chavarria.  She moved back to Rio Hondo after his death

She was preceded in death by her loving husband Lalo Chavarria, her parents Rosendo Martinez, Leonor C. Martinez, and sister Agueda M. Cavazos.

Left behind to cherish her loving memories are her brothers; Manuel Martinez, David (Beatriz) Martinez, Jose Napoleon (Imelda) Martinez, Leonel (Christince) Martinez and Pablo Martinez, sisters; Guadalupe Galvez, Lila (Jose) Chavez, Consuelo (Juan) Santana and Francisca (Jose) Quintero, many nieces, nephews, great nieces, and great nephews.

Visitation will be held on Friday, July 21, 2017 from 1 p.m. to 9 p.m. with a holy rosary at 7 p.m., at Thomae-Garza Funeral Home.

Funeral mass will be held on Saturday, July 22, 2017 at 10:00 a.m. at St. Helen Catholic Church in Rio Hondo, Texas. Burial will follow at Las Yescas Cemetery.
