Ron - Norman R McDonald entered into eternal rest on December 7th 2016 at 8:30 PM at his home in San Benito, Texas. He was born January 9th 1943 in Wooster, Ohio to Ray and Eva McDonald. He was reared in Delaware, Ohio the oldest son of four children. He served in the US Army during the Vietnam era. After returning from service he worked at broadcasting as a DJ and talk show host after first being such with the US military radio while in Vietnam. He worked at stations in Decatur, Taylorville, Morris, Centralia, Salem, Sparta, Mt Vernon and Marion all in Illinois. He enjoyed writing and photography, doing feature articles for various newspapers. He also enjoyed doing theater in various cities. After about 10 years he decided it was time for change and became interested in law enforcement and was hired by Williamson County Illinois Sheriff's Department as a deputy sheriff in 1974. He enjoyed flying and received his pilot's license in 1996. He survived a crash of his ultra-light and thought he would fly one again. But after being in the air in it he was praying that God would let him get down safely and he would never fly one again. But he continued piloting the other small planes. Since retiring in the valley he has perfected his guitar playing and voice for singing and has played with groups in Jam sessions around the area. He played often at the Elks in San Benito where he was an officer. He has made several recordings. Ron was preceded in death by his parents, his sister Norma and his son Chuck.
