San Benito, TX - Herminia Garcia Ruiz, 84, of San Benito entered into eternal rest, Thursday, September 25, 2008.She was born and raised in La Paloma, Texas. She was preceded in death by her parents, Cayetano and Carmen Garcia and her only sister, Emma G. Torres. Mrs. Ruiz is survived by her husband of 59 years, Ricardo M. Ruiz and their children, Molly (Jay) Schmalfeldt of San Antonio, TX, Ricardo (Marie) Ruiz, Jr. of Bastrop, TX, Fausto (Lori) Ruiz of Esterville, IA, Yolanda Estrada of San Benito and Delia (Willie) Zepeda of Harlingen; 10 grandchildren, 8 great- grandchildren and other relatives. She was a member of St. Benedict Catholic Church where she was actively involved with the Sacred Heart Society. Visitation will be held Sunday, September 28, 2008 from 12 Noon to 9:00 P.M. with a Rosary at 7:00 P.M. at Thomae-Garza Funeral Home. Funeral Mass will be held Monday, September 29, 2008 at 10:00 A.M. at St. Benedict Catholic Church. Interment will follow to Mont Meta Memorial Park. Pallbearers will be Noe Ruiz, Jorge Loera, Greg Pereyra, Willy Zepeda, Jay Schmalfeldt and Fred Zarate. The family wishes to express their heartfelt thanks to her caretakers of 3 years; Beatrice Barrientos and Yolanda Conde; Thank You for the love and compassion you gave in caring for our mother.
