SAN PEDRO, TX. — Hilda C. Tapia, 69 of San Pedro, Texas passed away on Wednesday, May 23, 2007 at Valley Baptist Medical Center in Brownsville, Texas. She was born on September 28, 1937 in Los Indios, Texas. She was a 51-year resident of San Pedro and a member of San Ignacio Catholic Church of El Ranchito. Ms. Tapia was a retired Child Care Director and the owner of Little Miss Muffet Day Care Center. She is preceded in death by her daughter, Yolanda Tapia; her father, Raul Cavazos; her parents, Francisco Canas, Sr. and Guadalupe Longoria Canas. She is survived by her husband of 51 years, Feliciano G. Tapia of San Pedro, TX; 2 daughters, Mr. and Mrs. Angelita Benavidez of San Benito; and Ramona (Jorge) Moncada; a son, Mr. and Mrs. Juan Antonio Tapia both of San Pedro, TX; 7 grandsons, 5 granddaughters and 5 great-grandchildren, numerous nieces and nephews. Also surviving are her 15 siblings, Israel Canas, Francisco Canas, Jr., Isabel Cruz, Josefa Martinez, Cruz Morrones, Roy Cavazos, Elida Rivera, Estela Cavazos, Elma Cavazos, Elda Cavazos, Elvia Cavazos, Rolando Cavazos, Raul Cavazos, Jr., Ruben Cavazos, and Maria Cavazos. Visitation will be held on Thursday, May 24, 2007 from 12 noon to 9:00 P.M., with a Rosary at 7:00 P.M., at Thomae-Garza Funeral Home. Funeral service will be held on Friday, May 25, 2007 at 2:00 P.M. at St. Ignacio Catholic Church in El Ranchito. Interment will follow to Tapia Family Cemetery located in San Pedro, TX. Pallbearers will be Alfredo Tapia, Juan Jose Rosales, Jesus Tapia, Marco Tapia, Frank Canas, III, Juan Alfredo Tapia, Carlos Melendez, Jr., and Oscar Rodriguez.
