Mary H. Kawamura, age 96, born on February 20, 1927, in Port Lavaca, Texas, passed away peacefully at Valley Baptist Medical Center in Harlingen, Texas on May 10, 2023. Mary is preceded in death by her husband, Toyo Kawamura, her parents, Cipriano and Francisca Herrera, Siblings Carmen Herrera, and Katarina Herrera. She is survived by her children, June (Carlos) Flores, Judy K. Gonzalez, Toyo Kawamura, Jr., James (Teri) Kawamura, Peggy Kawamura, Carol (David) Thornton and Gary Kawamura. Grandchildren: Timothy (Dina) Flores, Toby (Sandra) Flores, SFC Carlos III (Candice) Flores, Kimiko (Ariel) Acuna, Robert Gonzalez, Christopher (Diana) Kawamura, Patrick Kawamura, Nicholas (Candance) Kawamura), Mishael (Jeremy) Kawamura, Andrew Kawamura, Nathan (Melissa) Kawamura, Cory (Jitomi) Kawamura, Zachary (Adriana) Kawamura, Michael Kawamura, Rachel (Joel) Tweet, Hannah (Matt) Plunkett and Joshua Thornton and 24 great grandchildren. Gravesite services will be held at Restlawn Memorial Cemetery in La Feria, Texas at 1:00 p.m. on Monday, May 15, 2023.
