Maria Del Refugio Rangel, 77, of San Benito, Texas, passed away peacefully on Sunday, April 30, 2023. A lifetime resident of San Benito, she graduated from San Benito High School in 1966. She loved to garden and spend time outdoors. She loved all her nieces and nephews; she would strike up a conversation with anyone she met. She is preceded in death by her husband Ramon Rangel; parents, Lorenzo Maya Sr. and Ventura Ruiz Maya; sister, Julia Sanchez; brother, Mario Maya,sister Diana Maya, and brother-in-law Efrain Ambriz Sr. Left to cherish her loving memory are her brothers and sisters, Lorenzo(Linda) Maya Jr. from Riverside, CA, Dora Ambriz from Harlingen, TX, Lucinda Garza from Harlingen, TX, Elizabeth Odle from Houston, TX, and Mike Maya from Harlingen, TX. Numerous nieces, nephews, and sister-in-law Janie Maya. A visitation will be held on Monday, May 8, 2023, from 5:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m., with a Holy Rosary at 7:00 p.m., at Thomae-Garza Funeral Home in San Benito, Texas. A funeral mass will be held on Tuesday, May 9, 2023, at 10:00 a.m. at St. Benedict Catholic Church,351 S Bowie St., San Benito, TX with a burial to follow to San Benito City Cemetery.
