Elvira Martinez, 70, of Olmito passed away peacefully surrounded by her sons Saturday, April 1, 2023. Elvira was born in San Benito, Texas to Roberto and Enriqueta Martinez. She went to school in Los Fresnos and graduated in 1971. Shortly after she married her first husband, Reynaldo Esquibel, at the age of 21. They formed a home in Olmito, Texas and started a family. Elvira began working at the Los Fresnos School district as a Paraprofessional in elementary for many years. She was very hardworking and loved to instill education in those around her. She would help anyone in need and did her best to make sure those around her did not do without. She was a very devoted Catholic and you would never leave her presence without being blessed. She also loved spending time with her sons and grandchildren. She was a loving mother, grandmother, aunt, and friend. She will be truly missed and remembered by all. She was preceded in death by her parents, Roberto and Enriqueta Martinez; her brother, Robert Martinez; her sister, Gloria Martinez; and daughter, Esmeralda Esquibel. Remaining to treasure her memory are her three children; Reynaldo (Lupita) Esquibel, Oscar (Linda) Esquibel and Michael (Stefanie) Esquibel, her nine grandchildren, Crystal Esquibel, Clarissa Esquibel, Angel Esquibel, Joshua Esquibel, Juliana Esquibel, Diego Gamez, Samantha Esquibel, Jonathon Esquibel, and Christopher Esquibel; brother, Ruben Martinez; cousins, nieces, and nephews whom she loved dearly. Visitation will be held on Thursday, April 6, 2023, from 4:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. with the recitation of the Holy Rosary at 7:00 p.m. at Thomae-Garza Funeral Home in San Benito, Texas. A Chapel Service will be held Saturday, April 8, 2023, at 12:00 p.m. at Thomae-Garza Funeral Home with interment to follow at Mont Meta Memorial Park in San Benito, TX.
