Samuel “Sam” Villarreal Jr., AKA “Honey”, 75, of Harlingen, Texas, passed away on Thursday, February 16, 2023, peacefully at home, surrounded by loved ones. He was born on June 4, 1947, in Harlingen, TX. He proudly served in the U.S. Army from 1965-1968. After serving he attended Pan American University, receiving his Bachelors of Business Administration, in Accounting and making it a lifelong career. Sam is preceded in death by his parents Sam Sr., & Ninfa Villarreal and brother Arturo. Left to cherish his memory is his wife of 33 years, Alma Villarreal, daughter Rebecca Ceja, Sons, Jay (Sandra) Villarreal, Joaquin Villarreal, and John (Barbara) Johnston. Also surviving are 4 grandblessings, Christian Ceja, Sammy Charles Johnston, Atzir Acosta, & Leo Mojica, along with his brother Rudy (Martha), sister-in-law Sylvia (Arturo), his ex-wife Gloria with whom he had 3 beautiful children, numerous brothers-in-law, sisters-in law, nieces and nephews. Sam enjoyed working with computers, watching movies, BBQing for family & friends, visiting Mexico, Arroyo City & South Padre Island. Sam was a life- long Trekkie. LIVE LONG AND PROSPER!! A Memorial Service will be held on Thursday, February 23, 2023, at Thomae-Garza Funeral Home, from 4:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. with Military Honors to be held at 6:00 p.m. Services conclude at 8:00 p.m. You may sign the online guestbook, light a remembrance candle, or send words of comfort to the family of Samuel Villarreal Jr. at www.thomaegarza.com.
