Obituary of Leticia Rivera

Please share a memory of Leticia to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.
San Benito, TX - Leticia (Letty) Rivera, was born on January 22, 1966, and left us to join God’s grace, shortly after turning 57 on February 1, 2023, and fought until the very end. What can one say about Letty? There is no one else on this earth that could compare, that’s for sure. She prided herself in being one of The San Benito Mighty Greyhound Marching Band’s first female tuba players, along with the Houston Texans’ #1 Fan! Truth is, trouble would seem to find her, but everyone who knew her can say she’d face everything with a joke and a smile. Her heart and charisma were perhaps her strongest traits, because there was never a thing, she wouldn’t do to help someone in need, especially when it came to her family. Letty’s “grandbaby” was one of her most recent and biggest joys, he seemed to be all she could talk about lately. Indeed, Letty was a hoot and someone who can never be replaced. She is now reunited in heaven with her as parents: Canuto Rivera and María de Jesús Rivera, brothers: Juan Rivera and Canuto Rivera Jr.; and many other relatives. Letty is survived by her loving daughter, Veronica Lyzette Rivera (Jose Rodriguez), and beloved grandson, Mateó S. C. Rivera, of Austin, TX. She is also survived by her brother, Jose L. Gonzalez of McAllen, TX and sister, Maria “Mary” del Rosario (Matthew) McColley of Sabula, IA. Lastly, she leaves behind her nephews and nieces: David L. Gonzalez of Corpus Christi, TX, Juan Rivera Jr. of Monterrey, Mexico, Vanessa Ramos of Midland, TX, Maria Maura Rivera of San Luis Potosí, Mexico and Angelica Moreno of Ottumwa, IA. Visitation will be held at Thomae-Garza Funeral Home in San Benito on Sunday, February 5, 2023, from 4:00 PM to 9:00 PM with a rosary at 7:00 PM. Funeral Mass will take place on Monday, February 6, 2023, at 10:00 AM at St. Benedict Catholic Church, 351 S. Bowie St, San Benito, TX, with a funeral service to follow at San Benito “El Nopal” City Cemetery. Pallbearers are David L. Gonzalez, Fernando Gonzalez III, Juan “Bush” Rivera, Ramiro Betancourt Jr., Juan Jose “JJ” Rivera and Constable Adrian Gonzalez. Honorary Pallbearers are Veronica L. Rivera, Mary McColley, Mateó S.C. Rivera, Jose L. Gonzalez, Roli Betancourt and Jose “Jose” Rivera.
