Obituary of James Leonard Woodard

James Leonard Woodard, 60, of Los Fresnos, TX passed away Saturday, January 28, 2023 at Harlingen Medical Center. James was born in August of 1962. He proudly served in the US Marines from 1982 through 1988. He served 13 years with the Cameron County Sheriff’s Department and 20 years with South Padre Island Police Department and retired a Sergeant. He loved his friends, family, fishing, and his beloved Dallas Cowboys. A public viewing will be on Wednesday, February 1, 2023 from 4:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m., (family will be present from 4:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m., also Dallas cowboy jerseys not mandatory but highly encouraged). A celebration of life will be on February 3, 2023, from 3:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m. at the South Padre Island Community Center, 4501 Padre Blvd., South Padre Island, next to the police department with Military honors to be provided by American Legion Post 205 at 4:00 p.m. James will be cremated thereafter in accordance with his wishes. Ashes will be spread in a private setting at a future date.
