Tito Avila Jr., 79, formerly of Plano, TX passed away on Tuesday, January 10, 2023. He was a graduate of San Benito High School. He served in the Army as a combat engineer from 1962 to 1965. He attended Southwest Texas State University in San Marcos. He married his high school sweetheart, Dora Avila, and they were together for 39 years. Tito worked in construction as a manager for Fox and Jacobs & Nash Phillips Copus. He also supervised all the construction projects for 18 Dickey’s BBQ Restaurants in the DFW area. You could often find Tito cheering on the Dallas Cowboys. He is preceded in his death by his father Tito L. Avila Sr and mother, Santos Avila. Mr. Avila is survived by his 4 children: son, Dennis Avila Los Angeles, CA, daughter, Susan (Doug) Moody Plano, TX, son, Adrian (Kimberley) Avila Wylie, TX, and son, Michael A. (Rose) Sullivan Bordentown, NJ; 14 grandchildren Sarah M. Avila, Corey A. Avila, Gavin M. Avila, Morgan Avila, Mallory Avila, Mason Avila, Elizabeth Limones, Christopher Avila, Philip Gadbois, Tyler J. Moody, Aaron Moody, Mikaela R. Sullivan, Ryan J. Sullivan, Matthew J. Sullivan. He is also survived by his sister Alicia (Pedro A.) Salazar of San Benito, TX, brother Gilbert (Manuela) Avila of Rio Hondo, TX, and brother Hector (Elizabeth (Betsy) Avila of San Benito, TX. Visitation will be held on Monday, January 16, 2023, from 5:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. with the recitation of the Holy Rosary at 7:00 p.m. at Thomae Garza Funeral Home in San Benito, TX. Funeral Mass will be held Tuesday, January 17, 2023, at 10:00 a.m. at St. Theresa Catholic Church, 1300 Combes St, San Benito, TX. with military honors and interment to follow to Mont Meta Memorial Park.
