Obituary of Claudio Hernandez

Claudio Hernandez, 69, of Port Isabel/Brownsville, Texas, passed away on Thursday, October 13, 2022, at Valley Baptist Medical Center in Brownsville, TX. He was a lifetime resident of Port Isabel and a member San Eugenio de Mazenod Catholic Church of Brownsville and of member of La Comunidad de la Misericordia Divina and past member of Our Lady Star of the Sea Catholic Church of Port Isabel. He was a shrimper in the shrimping industry, bridge operator and security at Long Island Village in Port Isabel, TX. He is preceded in death by his daughter, Ana Laura Hernandez; parents, Silverio and Thomasa C. Hernandez; 1 brother, Cruz C. Hernandez; uncle, Julian Hernandez; aunts, Geronima "Nima" Hernandez, Guadalupe Galvan; Dominga “Minga” Londrie, Monica Sanchez; paternal grandparents, Antonio and Teresa Hernandez; maternal grandparents, Vicente Castillo and Eufracina P. Gonzalez; and brother-in-law Anicleto Villarreal. He is survived by his loving wife of 48 years Maria Martha Hernandez; children: 1 daughter, Adriana H. Zamora; 1 son, Claudio (San Juana) Hernandez, Jr.; 7 grandchildren, Rigo Edwin (Regina Rivera) Garza, Justin Noe (Istlee Martinez) Garza, Priscilla Garza, Santiago Hernandez, Claudio Hernandez, Jayden Hernandez, and Wally Hernandez; 3 brothers, George (Nora) Hernandez, Angel (Nora) Hernandez, Antonio (Martha) Hernandez; 4 sisters, Victoria Villarreal, Theresa (Rafael) Roux, Esperanza (Eduardo) Mantirola, Rosa (Jose Luna) Hernandez; and sister-in-law Lupita Delgadillo Hernandez. along with several aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, and other relatives. Visitation will be held on Monday, October 17, 2022, from 5:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. with a holy rosary at 7:00 p.m.at Thomae-Garza Funeral Home in San Benito. Funeral Mass will be on Tuesday, October 18, 2022, at 11:00 a.m. at San Eugenio de Mazenod Catholic Church, 5409 Austin Rd, Brownsville, TX with interment to follow at Rose Lawn Cemetery in Brownsville, TX.
