Jesus Herrera, Sr, entered into eternal rest on September 22, 2022, at the age of 78. He was born to the late Juan Herrera and Maria Santos Rodriguez. Jesus was a lifelong resident of Rio Hondo, Texas. Jesus a was a loving husband, father, and “Buelo” who loved his family dearly. He enjoyed spending time with loved ones and was proud of the family he created. Jesus was a lifelong handyman; he liked being outdoors and working around his home. In his spare time, he enjoyed his lottery scratch-offs. He is preceded in death by his beloved wife Josefina Herrera, and son Jesus Herrera, Jr. Left to cherish his memory are his daughters, Enedelia (Hector) Rodriguez and Elisa (Ricardo) Castaneda. He is also survived by his granddaughters, Abigail (Joseph) Smart, Jan (Mario) Rodriguez, and great-granddaughter Emelyn Faith Rodriguez, whom he loved very much. Jesus’ family will receive relatives and friends on Monday, September 26, 2022, from 2:00 p.m. - 9:00 p.m. at Thomae-Garza Funeral Home in San Benito, TX. A recitation of the Holy Rosary will be held at 7:00 pm. A Funeral Mass will be held on Tuesday, September 27, 2022, at 10:00 am at St. Helen Catholic Church in Rio Hondo, TX.
