Refugio Medina, “Cookie”, as he was known, succumbed to cancer on Saturday, June 11, 2022, at the age of 61. He attended San Benito High School. Cookie was good at singing, whistling, and drawing. He was a hard worker, even at an early age on the family farm and later as a migrant worker, meat packer, backhoe operator, and landscaper. He often reflected fondly on his times in Ohio where he was happy working alongside his family. Cookie was known for his fun-loving, playful sometimes mischievous personality which drew his nieces, nephews, “his kids” and many friends to him. He loved his “kids”, family, dogs and cats. He often brought strays home even human ones. We would like to thank Dr. Kotta for his kind care and attention. We would also like to thank the 4th floor Oncology nurses and auxiliary staff at Valley Baptist Medical Center, and Martha, Rosa, and Pete at Sunshine Haven in Olmito for their care and kindness. He is preceded in death by his father, Jose Medina, his grandmother, Francisca Hernandez, and his sister, Eva Medina. Left to cherish his memory are his children, Priscilla (Robert) Padilla, Refugio (CJ) Medina, Connie Lee (Rick) Medina, and Jeramie (Cassandra). Also surviving is his loving mother, Martha Medina, his siblings, Eddie (Nellie), Arturo, Ruben, Joe, Lillian (Jorge) Garcia, Lupe (Adriana), Mike (Miriam), Tony (Cara), and his grandchildren; Hailey, Mia, Brody, Bailey, Mya, Makayla and Lorenzo, along with numerous other family members.
