Lucas R. Gamez, 86, of San Benito, went to be with Our Lord, on May 19, 2022, at his daughter’s residence surrounded by loving family. He is preceded in death by his parents, Yldefonso Gamez and Alejandrina Ruiz Gamez, along with a brother, Jose Eulalio Gamez. Left to cherish his memory are his children, Lupita Wright (Hector Martinez), Anita Gonzalez, and Lucas Jr. (Imelda Gamez). Also surviving are his siblings, Guadalupe (Juan) Gaure, Jose Angel (Diana+) Gamez, Juanita Gamez(Salvador) Salinas, Maria Esther Gamez, along with his grandchildren, Johnny Rojas, Angela De Leon, Daniel Wright, Cara Rojas, Andy Mireles, Jacob Martinez, Laura Tijerina, Rene Gonzalez, Lucas Isaac Gamez, Laura Isabel Gamez, and Lionel Ilan Gamez. Also left surviving are numerous great grandchildren, great-great grandchildren, nieces and nephews. Visitation will be held on Monday, May 23, 2022 from 5pm to 9pm, at Thomae-Garza Funeral Home in San Benito, with a recitation of the Holy Rosary to be held at 7 pm. A Funeral Mass will be held on Tuesday, May 24, 2022, at 2 pm at Our Lady Queen of the Universe, with burial to follow to San Benito Memorial Park.
