Please share a memory of Dolores to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.
Dolores Marie Green, 67, of Port Isabel, TX, passed away peacefully on March 15, 2022. Her loving daughter Rebecca Marie Baker was by her side at the time of her passing. Dolores Marie Green, our loving Mother, Sister, Grandma, Prima, Tia and dear friend was born on October 24, 1954, to James Cecil Green and Lucila (Ochoa) Green in Port Isabel, Texas. She was the third of seven siblings born to the couple. Dolores “Dolly” Green was a woman who walked this earth with unshakable grace. Her life’s journey brought her throughout Texas and to Louisiana where she graciously raised her girls, Rebecca Marie Baker and Rita Catalina Copeland. There she fueled her passion of cooking with the opening of a successful Mexican restaurant. She was always in search for her next adventure. This happily led her to advocating for children in need of cochlear implants and translating for their migrant parents at Early Steps. Her retirement was filled with the happiest of days as the caretaker at the Glendale Sugarcane plantation in south Louisiana .On the plantation is where she thoroughly enjoyed her passion of gardening. Tending to the rows and rows in her garden was her joy. Soon her heart was tugged and she answered the call for her return to her home town in Port Isabel, Texas. This is where her heart was finally calm and fulfilled. Her days spent in the salty sea air with her dear prima Vicky, family, friends and summer visits from her adoring grandchildren, Lotus Marigny Graves, Beau Michael and Quinn Elise Copeland. These were her most treasured moments. Dolly never met a stranger, her ability to embrace you with a simple smile was pure magic. We will miss her witty sense of humor and infectious laugh. Her words of wisdom were the shiniest of gems. Our memories will forever be imprinted in our hearts. She held her family and friendships dear to her heart. We had the privilege to call her our Mother, Sister, Grandma, Prima, Tia and dear friend. The way she practiced putting extraordinary effort and emphasis in making all feel so welcomed was truly a gift to witness. My mother did not need much and wanted very little. A kind word, sincerity, salty sea air, a garden, a cold beer, kisses, books to read, sheltering arms, a cozy bed and to love and be loved in return. We had the absolute honor of witnessing her short but extraordinary life. To our most beloved Mother, Grandma, Sister, Prima, Tia and dear friend may you Rest in Peace. We will forever treasure our million embraces and laughs. We will love and miss you dearly. Our Mother’s passion for gardening will live on forever with the creation of a memorial garden in her honor. She is preceded in death by her parents, James Cecil and Lucila Ochoa Green. She is survived by 2 daughters, Rita Catalina (Cory) Copeland and Rebecca Marie (Jason Ramsay) Baker; 3 grandchildren, Lotus Graves, Beau Michael Copeland, and Quinn Copeland; siblings, Arnold Green, Kay Green, Martha “Millie” Green Gonzalez, Jude Cecil Green, Jacob Anthony Green, and Hilda Janet Green; several nephews, nieces, and cousins.
