Elia Maldonado Avila, 69, of Lyford TX, passed away Sunday, March 6, 2020 at Valley Baptist Medical Center in Harlingen, Texas. She was a very loving grandma. No matter what she was doing or who she was with, she would always have a smile on her face. Her heart was very giving, that she constantly would put other’s needs before hers. The memories made together with her will forever be cherished and forever be in our hearts. She is preceded in death by her husband, Ignacio Martinez Avila. She is survived by her son, Edward Maldonado; siblings; Liborio G. Maldonado Jr., Clemente G. Maldonado, Valentine G. Maldonado, George G. Maldonado, Celia G. Mejia, Adelita G. Maldonado; and grandchild, Raiden Edward Maldonado. Elia’s family will receive relatives and friends on Friday, March 11, 2022 from 5:00 p.m. - 9:00 p.m. at Thomae-Garza Funeral Home in San Benito, TX. A recitation of the Holy Rosary will be held at 7:00 pm. Cremation will follow according to her wishes. All individuals attending Elia’s services are encouraged to socially distance and wear face covers or masks.
